On October 26th, 2017 Paul Newman's personal Paul Newman Daytona Rolex reference 6239 sold for a record-breaking $17.75 million including the buyer's premium ($15.5 million at the hammer), making it the newest most expensive wristwatch ever sold. The auction was held by the Phillips Auction House in New York City and the winning bid went to an anonymous buyer on the phone.
